Opened and operated by a Sherpa couple, a local Durango resident the name Momo Ghar includes Momo, a popular term for steamed dumpling in Nepal and Ghar meaning home in Nepali, thus a Home of Authentic Himalayan Dumpling.
Momo is a Himalayan-style gourmet dumpling stuffed with meat and vegetable ingredients. The fillings are seasoned with rich, healthy flavors of traditional Nepali herbs & spices and beautifully hand-wrapped with dough wrapper. It's the artisanal skill and labor of love that goes into wrapping/bundling each Momo that makes them taste so delicious and for the same reason is a widely popular soul food across South Asia.
We prepare our Momos in traditional style with choices of protein fillings-chicken, beef and mixed vegetables all handmade fresh from scratch, hand-wrapped and served with special homemade dipping sauce or house special Jhol (soup). But it does not stop there! We also serve curry, another classic dish and other authentic recipes from the Himalayas, thus adding more flavors to the rich food scene of Durango.
